ROSE OF JERICHO

The fourth and final single from our new album, "The Earth Turns and So Do We,” is out now!

The Rose of Jericho (Selaginella lepidophylla), known as the resurrection plant, can live without water for years, then unfurls into a beautiful fern-like deep green plant. This song mirrors that slow rebirth with tightly interweaving harmonies, and cello, harmonium, & trumpet all building to create a wall of sound.

Verse 1

Rose of Jericho, watching you regrow

You were nowhere, and now you’re here

Rose of Jericho, ‘cross the world you’ve blown

Holding secrets close for years

Verse 2

Many moons ago, it was you alone

In the desert, across the sea

And you waited for the water

To restore, patiently

Bridge

After so long alone, what a joy to unfold

Stretch your leaves and your roots

Verse 3

Rose of Jericho, grey to green to gold

Through centuries you attend

The veil is thin in your doorway

What has died may live again

Instrumental

Outro

Rose of Jericho, watching you regrow

You were nowhere and now you’re here
