Monday Musings: Being Here Together
Being Here Together
The past week has been a bit of a haze for us as we sift through everything going on in the world right now, and attempt to move ourselves in the right direction. How about you? Are you feeling overwhelmed?
I’m reminded of how I felt this past fall - our dog, Nadia, had just passed away and we were driving through the northeast in a broken tour van. My mind felt split and constantly confused as to which state it was supposed to exist in. On one hand it very much felt like my whole world had narrowed to a very specific grief, and how dare everything else keep going as usual when Nadia was no longer there. On the other hand, the rest of the world did still exist, and I was being healed and made better by the forward march of life, however painful it was.
In the same way, the upheaval going on in the United States right now is weighing heavily on many of us, so heavily for some of us that it feels like nothing else should exist. And yet. The world continues turning. And I think as scary as it might feel, if we are interested in a better future, we have to turn with it. We have to hop back on this ride with all of our grief, confusion, fear, ignorance, and passion held willingly in our hands, so that something good can come out of all these damn feelings. To heal we must move forward, we cannot remain frozen in place.
Remember we are all here together.
